Where downloads are saved on Chromebook

Chrome OS saves all downloads to the Downloads folder by default. To access it:

  1. Click the Launcher (circle icon in the bottom-left corner).
  2. Search for and open the Files app.
  3. Navigate to Downloads in the left sidebar.

You can also press Alt+Shift+M to open the Files app directly.

Save to Google Drive

Chromebook users often rely on Google Drive for storage. To save a downloaded TikTok video to Drive:

  1. Open the Files app.
  2. Find the video in the Downloads folder.
  3. Right-click the file and select Save to Google Drive, or drag it to the Google Drive folder in the sidebar.

Chrome OS vs Linux on Chromebook

You don't need to enable Linux (Crostini) to use TikItDown. The standard Chrome browser handles everything. Linux mode is useful for running desktop apps, but TikItDown is a web tool that works in any Chrome browser on Chrome OS. Stick with the regular Chrome browser for the simplest experience.
